The Patient Care Technician provides safe, quality patient-focused care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. They collaborate with the care team to achieve patient goals and ensure thorough documentation of services.
Candidates must be certified as a Patient Care Technician by the NHA or NCCT and hold current CPR/BLS certification. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with the ability to perform phlebotomy and EKG tasks.
The primary purpose of the Patient Care Technician (Certified) position is to be responsible for the delivery of safe, quality patient/family focused care and services under the direction of a Professional Registered Nurse. The Patient Care Technician (Certified) is a member of a designated care team and collaborates with team members in achieving goals. Patient care is provided congruent with the patient/family developmental stage and cultural expectations.The competent practice of the Patient Care Technician is evidenced by patient/family goal achievement, patient safety, patient/family satisfaction, and care and services that are thoroughly documented as dictated by policy and procedure. The Patient Care Technician (Certified) conducts her/himself according to the behavioral expectations articulated for this role
Certified as a Patient Care Technician by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or equivalent. Ability to read and write English. Ability to lift/move patients with or without reasonable accommodations. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to organize the activities of multiple patients. High School graduate or equivalent.
