The surgical technologist is responsible for gathering surgical supplies, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team. They must ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and provide safe patient care during surgical procedures.

UVA Health University Medical Center is expanding its Perioperative and Operating Room operations and is seeking experienced Surgical Technologists to support growth across the Main OR, Surgical Care Riverside (SCR), and Outpatient Surgical Centers.

Currently enrolled or graduated from a surgical technologist training program accredited by CAHEEP/ABHES OR NCCT Approved program.

  • Licensure: BLS required. Certified to practice as a Surgical Technologist by NBSTSA (The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) or NCCT (The National Center for Competency Testing) required at time of start date. Current Registration with Virginia Board of Medicine required at the time of hire. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods;
  • Repetitive motion: passing instruments, lifting heavy instrument sets. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull >50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to cold, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The pay range for this role is $26.40 - $32.05 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma and be enrolled in or graduated from an accredited surgical technologist program. Certification by NBSTSA or NCCT and current registration with the Virginia Board of Medicine are required.
