The role involves leading research studies to understand immunological mechanisms and developing innovative in vivo models for drug discovery. The scientist will work hands-on in the laboratory, analyze data, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field such as immunology, physiology, or pharmacology, or a Master's degree with at least 8 years of experience. Extensive in vivo capabilities and strong technical leadership skills are essential for this position.
Provide strong scientific and technical leadership to establish and innovate in in vivo models to interrogate mechanisms and pathways relevant to the discovery of novel treatments for autoimmune diseases and related pathologies. Be hands-on in the laboratory to leverage and develop in vivo and in vitro systems to generate critical data supporting new and existing programs. Function independently, work within a team-oriented lab environment and communicate results to cross functional discipline teams. Provide supervision and mentoring to 1-2 scientists, performance evaluations, and career development. Requirement for accurate record keeping, independent data analysis, and reporting of data in written and oral formats. Will perform work in full compliance with Lilly Research Policies and complete all required training activities in the timeframe specified. Basic Qualifications/Requirements: Ph.D. in related field physiology, immunology, biology, pharmacology, or a closely related field Strong/extensive in vivo capabilities, or master's with 8+years of experience.
Experience working with humanized mouse models such as the NSG. Experience of chronic non resolving fibrosis models Understanding of in vivo models related to immune aging in aged mice Proficient in cell isolation, cell culture, and immune cell differentiation procedures Knowledgeable with ex vivo sample assays and analyses (e.g. ELISA, RNA isolation, Nanostring) Familiarity with FACS and immunophenotyping Ability to prioritize activities across multiple projects independently and effectively while demonstrating initiative and appropriate risk taking. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required to present findings in internal and external forums.
