The Ultrasound Technologist prepares patients and performs routine ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist. They are responsible for producing high-quality images, maintaining clinical competency, and ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
Candidates must have completed an accredited ultrasound program or relevant cross-training and hold ARDMS (OB/GYN and RVT) certification. AHA BLS CPR provider status is required, along with the ability to perform physical tasks like lifting and standing for extended periods.
Completion of accredited program in ultrasound or MWHC/MIF cross-training program, or twelve months relevant experience required. AHA BLS CPR Provider required. ARDMS (OB/GYN and RVT) required. Registry in Abdomen (AB) and Pediatric Sonography (PS) preferred. Three years relevant experience preferred. Experience with applicable EMR, Radiology, and information systems preferred. Works with leadership in evaluation of new protocols and providing peer education. Required Physical Requirements: Constant (67-100% of workday) use of arms and hands; frequent (34-66% of workday) standing, walking, sitting; occasional (0-33% of workday) bending and squatting; ability to lift 35 lbs.; ability to push and pull up to 20 lbs.; auditory and visual skills to include color determination Mental Requirements: Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to multi-task. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. Capacity to cope with difficult situations. Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends. Environmental Requirements and Exposure Hazards: Risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals. Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
