The social worker provides psychosocial and clinical support to cancer patients and their families through assessments, counseling, and care coordination. They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop care plans, facilitate support groups, and advocate for patient needs within the medical setting.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Social Work and possess an active LMSW or LCSW license in the District of Columbia. A minimum of one year of medical social work experience in a cancer care or specialty outpatient setting is required.

The Cancer Center Social Worker is responsible for providing psychosocial and clinical support services to Cancer Center patients and their families primarily in the outpatient setting. The Social Worker assesses patients from a culturally and ethnically diverse population and provides outpatient clinical intervention while establishing plans for effective management of identified needs. The Social Worker acts as an advocate for patients and provides supportive, short-term counseling, crisis intervention and care management to individuals and/or their families impacted by cancer.
