The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing patients, developing individualized respiratory care plans, and administering prescribed therapies such as mechanical ventilation and aerosol treatments. They must also respond to respiratory emergencies and maintain accurate documentation of patient status and equipment maintenance.
Candidates must hold National Board of Respiratory Care certification and North Carolina state licensure, along with BLS and ACLS certifications. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience is preferred, and the role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
oDevelops and documents individualized respiratory care plans within 8 hours of admission, based on assessment findings and patient-specific needs such as bronchodilator therapy, chest physiotherapy, and patient education on inhaler use, breathing techniques, and home care. oWorks with the interdisciplinary team and patient/family to set realistic respiratory goals, including oxygen therapy, airway clearance, and ventilator weaning strategies.
