About the role

Licensed Practical Nurses provide direct nursing care to residents, including performing assessments, administering medications, and coordinating treatments. They also maintain accurate medical records and provide essential nursing support to physicians.

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Montana Veterans’ Home.

The Montana Veterans' Home (MVH), located in Columbia Falls, is a Medicare/Medicaid and Veterans Administration-certified facility with 105 intermediate/skilled-care beds and 12 domiciliary beds.

The nursing facility includes a 15-bed Dementia Care unit.

MVH has been providing services to Veterans since 1896.

The Montana Veterans' Home is located next to the Flathead River just minutes away from Glacier National Park.

A large pavilion, walking paths, and protected courtyards provide ample opportunities for outdoor access.

The facility offers individual and group activities, spiritual services, support group services, and social services.

The skilled and rehabilitative services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and dietitian services.

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) provide nursing care to residents.

Responsibilities include performing nursing assessments, treatments/procedures, administering medications, coordinating care, maintaining records, and providing nursing support to physicians.

Work schedules vary by availability and may include shift differential pay.

Positions and Schedule: Day: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Saturday and Sunday; 6:00 am - 6:30 pm, Thursday of Week 1; 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Monday and Tuesday; 6:00 am - 6:30 pm, Wednesday of Week 2.

Night

6:00 pm - 6:30 am, Saturday of Week 1; 6:00 pm - 6:30 am, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday of Week 2.

LPN and

CNA shift differential shall be paid as follows: Evening Shift $1.75/hr. Night Shift $3.00/hr. Why Join DPHHS?

Qualifications

for this Career Opportunity Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Must be currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Montana. Physical and Environmental Demands: Work requires frequent standing and walking with some bending. Critical physical demands: lift 50 pounds rarely; lift 15-20 pounds frequently; reach forward and below frequently; push/pull 60 pounds occasionally; push/pull 10-20 pounds occasionally. Must be able to transfer residents safely and effectively. Must have adequate sight, hearing, and speech to communicate with residents. Near visual acuity to read gauges, thermometers, etc. Exposure to blood and body fluids in Classification I, II, and III, and unpleasant odors. Daily interaction with sometimes volatile and angry residents. HBV vaccination is available.

Requirements
