Summary
The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, OrthoMaryland Division is seeking a team-oriented, service-driven, computer savvy Medical Assistant for our busy orthopaedic practice. Under the direction/supervision of the Clinical Manager and Physicians, this team member will provide medical assistance to doctors in the examination and treatment of patients.
This is a full-time position.
Medical Assistant Duties include
Supports efficient patient flow in and around clinical areas.
Provides for patient comfort, safety, and privacy.
Assists patients in preparation for medical exams and/or procedures. Keeps patients comfortable during waiting time.
Places patients in rooms, and obtains chief complaint, medical history, and any additional information the physician needs.
Records the planned medical procedures.
Provides support to professional staff in the evaluation and treatment of patients.
Provides patient care during clinic visits according to policies and procedures.
Prepares injections as ordered by physician.
Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures.
Stock examination rooms with equipment, supplies, and other necessities. Ensure orderliness of the examination/treatment rooms and clinical area.
Prepares and sterilizes suture packs and surgical equipment.
Utilize computer software programs, as needed, to communicate and understand patient needs (i.e. scheduling, EMR, etc).
Lifting and ambulating as needed to assist patients, maintaining patient flow.
Follows all Federal and State guidelines in accordance with patient privacy (HIPAA), OSHA, etc. as applicable.
Understands and adheres to OrthoMaryland’s policies and procedures.
All other duties as assigned.

Experience in an orthopaedic practice preferred
An ability to work independently, excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and flexibility required.
A working knowledge of medical terminology is necessary.
