The Certified Anesthesia Technician assists the anesthesia provider with patient care, including equipment setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting during surgical procedures. They are responsible for maintaining a sterile and organized environment, managing inventory, and ensuring all anesthesia equipment is functional and safe for use.
Candidates must hold an Anesthesia Technician Certificate from ASATT and possess a High School Diploma along with an Associate degree or two years of relevant experience. Proficiency in anesthesia equipment operation, basic life support, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks like lifting and moving heavy equipment are required.
Assists the Anesthesia provider under the supervision of the Chief of Anesthesiology, or designee. Practices in accordance with the legal scope of practice and within established standards of care, policies and procedures.
Experience Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of anesthesia equipment, including trouble shooting Working knowledge of Anesthesia department procedures. Knowledge of principles of asepsis. Demonstrated ability to perform the duties and responsibilities required of a Certified Anesthesia Technician. Able to demonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical ability. Must be able to lift 45 lbs equipment from an overhead position on a daily basis. Must be able push/pull up to 500 lbs. Must be able to stand or walk continuously. Must be able to exercise judgment and work efficiently and competently with minimal supervision. Utilizes effective communication strategies, which result in intended outcomes. Keyboarding skills Upon training, must be able to use appropriate computer software applications, including the Health Connect system. Education High School Diploma. Graduate of an ASATT approved program in Anesthesia Technology with an AS degree OR a minimum of two years experience, as a Certified Anesthesia Technician. License, Certification, Registration Anesthesia Technician Certificate from American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians Basic Life Support Additional Requirements:
Basic EKG certificate/course. Certificate of training for Drager or GE Anesthesia systems, or other Anesthesia delivery systems. Valid ACLS Provider Card Notes: Available 6 shifts during the week + 2 weekends=10 shifts available This is an on call position, days and hours may vary.
