The Certified Medical Assistant provides patient-centered, evidence-based care by rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and assisting providers with procedures. They also support documentation in the electronic health record and participate in patient panel management to ensure quality care.
Candidates must hold a valid certification from AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT, or a valid Wisconsin LPN license. Additionally, a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Schedule: Monday–Friday: Variable shifts starting as early as 7:45 AM and ending between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM, or until the last patient is seen (may extend later). End times are rotated to support team balance.
Valid certification or registration through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) or National Healthcare Association (NHA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or a valid State of Wisconsin Licensed Practical Nurse license. Some departments may require additional certifications. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of Fifty (50) pounds without assistance Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform patient care procedures WORK ENVIRONMENT: Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock Occasional high noise level in work environment Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time Transporting patients and/or equipment from one location to another; little likelihood for injury if proper body mechanics and procedures are followed Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients. Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.
