The nurse will deliver responsible and accountable nursing care following the American Nurses Association standards and the nursing process. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care across OB and Med Surg units.
Float OB / Med Surg: About the unit
Gerber Med Surg is 13 beds.
4 are observation and 9 are inpatient.
The unit is currently undergoing a refresh, new paint, flooring, and artwork in the halls and patient rooms, in addition to a new nurses station, breakroom and staff bathroom.
Gerber Med Surg is home to our largest patient population and is a cornerstone of the hospital.
We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound.
Coming soon to Gerber are telemedicine palliative care services.
We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site, a huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.
About the unit
Gerber OB has 7- Patient in room through Labor/Delivery, Recovery, and Post-Partum; 1 Short Term Observation Room; 3 Bed Triage for Prenatal testing/additional procedures; 1 Surgical Suite for C-Sections

Scope of work
Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA.
This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.
Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Candidates must hold an Associate degree in Nursing and obtain a Bachelor's degree within 5 years. Required certifications include MI Registered Nurse license, BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, and TNCC within specified timeframes.
