About the role

The Cat Scan Technician provides computed tomography imaging services while ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure. They are responsible for preparing equipment, administering contrast media, and analyzing image quality to ensure accurate diagnostic results.

How you’ll contribute

A Cat Scan Technician who excels in this role

Provides computed tomography (CT) imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director of Radiology and/or Supervisor

Reviews patient history and physician's orders.

Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.

When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.

Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.

Prepares equipment and supplies.

Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.

Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).

Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.

Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.

Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

What we’re looking for

Education

Two-year certificate, Associate’s degree, or Baccalaureate degree.

Licenses/Certifications

Current Radiation Operator Certificate in Tennessee; registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology and Computed Tomography; BLS required.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a two-year certificate, Associate’s, or Baccalaureate degree and possess a current Radiation Operator Certificate in Tennessee. Additionally, registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiology and Computed Tomography and BLS certification are required.
