About the role

The Sonographer is responsible for operating imaging scanners to produce diagnostic images while providing patient-centered care. They must also maintain equipment, ensure safety standards, and manage patient records within the Radiology Information System.

RAYUS Radiology is looking for a Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist to join our team.

As a Sonographer, you will be responsible for operating assigned scanner(s) to produce images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes.

Taking a patient centered approach, you will provide Sonography services within professional standards and with excellent customer service.

This is a temporary (PRN) position, working variable hours.

Essential duties and responsibilities: (90%) Sonography Imaging

1.

Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure the correct patient and procedure 2.

Explains and prepares patients for sonography imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately imaged 3.

Performs routine and advanced Sonography imaging procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats scanned, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure 4.

Adjusts sonography scan parameters correctly and as needed 5.

Follows physicians' orders precisely, conforms to safety regulations, to and accurately maintains patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS) 6.

Maintains an orderly and clean work area, including sanitizing equipment, to promote good safety habits for patients and team members 7.

Maintains the American College of Radiology (ACR) toolkit and accreditation requirements

(5%) Sonography Department Support

1. Assist with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades 2. Monitor medical supply inventory and requests supplies as necessary 3. Assist with the training of new team members, providing resource and technical expertise, as applicable

(5%) Other Duties as Assigned

1. Completes other tasks and projects as assigned

Qualifications

Required

1.

High school diploma, or equivalent 2.

Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited sonography program, or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) 3.

Registered American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) sonographer, current and in good standing 4.

Sonography certification in imaging specialty (AB, BR, ObGyn, etc.) 5.

Licensed Sonographer in the appropriate state (if applicable) 6.

Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification 7.

Must have sufficient training and experience to perform sonography procedures independently

Preferred

1. Certification in ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) 2. OSHA Class I exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens 3. Bilingual
