The Cardiac Anesthesiologist is responsible for evaluating patients, planning anesthetic care, and monitoring vital functions throughout the perioperative process. They must also manage emergencies, collaborate with medical teams, and ensure patient safety during surgical procedures.
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree, have completed a Cardiac Anesthesia fellowship, and possess at least 3 years of experience in anesthesiology. A current Pennsylvania medical license and board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Anesthesiology are required.
The Cardiac Anesthesiologist is responsible for examining patients, reviewing their medical history, determining the physical status of the patient, informing the patient of all risks/side effects associated with anesthesia, monitoring and evaluating patient care throughout the surgical process, and ensuring patient safety. The position manages patients throughout the continuum of hospital care by collaborating with other medical professionals.
