Perform a variety of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Maintain laboratory equipment, manage specimen collection, and ensure accurate reporting of results according to established standards.
Requires an associate degree in Medical Technology or a related science and certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician. One year of general laboratory experience is preferred.

One (1) year general laboratory experience CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Perform tests and procedures as ordered/requisitioned, following outlines in procedure manuals. This includes Bacteriology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Hematology and Coagulation, Serology, etc. 2.Identify and label all specimens received/collected. 3. Record and report findings as required. Call all values that are flagged as critical to a responsible caregiver following Laboratory procedure. Fax reports when indicated if phlebotomist/clerk is not available. 4. Perform quality control according to established policy. 5. When performing phlebotomy procedures, assure that appropriate care is provided utilizing knowledge and skill according to the age of the patient – neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric 6. Assess data reflective to the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs. Provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures. 7. May assist in supervising students during their clinical training 8. Care for and maintain supplies, equipment, facilities, and work areas as required/directed. Make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment and apparatus. Calibrate equipment. Alert supervisor to defective equipment, supplies, materials, etc. Document maintenance. Perform cleaning duties as required 9. Understand and perform specimen-collecting techniques. Judge the adequacy of submitted specimens and request another specimen if necessary. 10. Record all test results with accuracy. Include information regarding abnormal appearance of specimen 11. Identify and/or flag all abnormal results and panic values and call to proper personnel following Laboratory procedure. 12. Maintain all required records, report, statistics, logs and files. Report inventory to Lab Manager. Rotates stock as needed. Unpacks supplies and store appropriately.
