The Patient Care Technician provides direct support to nursing staff by assisting with basic patient hygiene, monitoring patient conditions, and operating medical equipment. They also perform clerical tasks and ensure the delivery of quality care while maintaining safety and infection control standards.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and maintain a current Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification. Up to six months of work-related experience is required, along with strong interpersonal communication skills.
Under the leadership of the departmental Nursing Director and the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Patient Care Technician provides culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate patient care. The Patient Care Technician works under close supervision of a licensed nurse and performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs of patients.
• Education:
Requires and maintains a certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS certification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within the orientation period.)
