Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs clinical laboratory examinations on blood or body fluids
Operates analytical equipment in performance of analytical testing
Maintains and troubleshoots analyzers to ensure proper function
Performs and evaluates quality control activities to validate proper test performance
Classifies, enumerates, and evaluates blood cells
Microscopically examines fluids and sediments to identify and enumerate components
Inoculates media with clinical specimens to encourage microbial growth
Performs atypical antibody screening and compatibility testing to prepare donor blood units for transfusion
Performs pre-analytical assessments of specimens to identify potential interferences to testing
Collects patient specimens by venipuncture or capillary incision
Performs other duties as assigned

Can utilize problem-solving skills adeptly to the situation
Properly documents quality control failures, instrument errors, etc.
Has familiarity with computer information systems
Can properly assess and evaluate quality control results
