The Speech Language Pathologist will evaluate, diagnose, and implement individualized treatment plans to improve residents' speech, language, and cognitive communication skills. They will also collaborate with nursing staff and families to provide education and ensure continuity of care following discharge.
Candidates must hold a Master's or Doctoral degree from an approved Speech/Language Pathology program and possess a valid Maryland clinical license. Certification by the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association is required, and clinical fellows are welcome to apply.
On referral, evaluates the impact of available resident information on the assessment and treatment process Conduct and document a thorough assessment of the resident to determine and diagnose communicative deficits and equipment needs Develop and implement an individualized treatment program based on the initial evaluation and containing achievable functional goals Complie with evaluation, treatment and documentation guidelines described in facility policy and procedures Complete appropriate documentation in the resident’s medical record following each treatment session Revise the resident’s treatment program, as needed, based upon resident performance Document the course of treatment in a clear, concise discharge summary utilizing a prescribed format Orient residents to program services and treatment procedures appropriate to their needs. Informs residents of any potential risk during any procedure Work with nursing staff, resident and families to maximize resident’s use of functional abilities Orient residents to program services and treatment procedures appropriate to their needs.
