The Residential Aide provides direct care and support to individuals with psychiatric disabilities in a 24/7 residential setting. Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, assisting with daily living activities, and documenting service delivery in compliance with Medicaid standards.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor's degree in a human services field preferred. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver's license, and be able to pass criminal background checks.

Job Title: Residential Aide
Home Office: Karnak, IL and Vienna, IL
Area of Focus: Behavioral Health
The Residential Tech/Advocate provides direct care and support to individuals residing in Arrowleaf’s recovery-oriented community residential facilities. These individuals experience substantial psychiatric disabilities and meet medical necessity criteria as determined by the Illinois Department of Mental Health. This position plays a critical role in the delivery of structured, person-centered, 24/7 residential care that promotes recovery, safety, and independence. Staff in this role are required to remain awake and on-site during all scheduled shifts and will implement therapeutic interventions, skills training, and case management services consistent with Medicaid Rule 140 and Part 132 guidelines.
Immediate Supervisor: Residential Services Director
Hours of Work: Call-in
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
High School Diploma or equivalent. Qualifies as a Rehabilitative Services Associate (RSA); Mental Health Professional (MHP) is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred, qualifies as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) as defined in Illinois Administrative Code (Part 132). Prior experience working with individuals with behavioral health needs is strongly preferred.
Maintain and provide proof of a valid driver's license; must have reliable transportation; maintain and provide proof of personal vehicle liability insurance; at least 21 years of age; must complete required registry clearances and criminal fingerprint background checks; maintains CPR & First Aid training requirements; ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as scheduled.
Knowledge of behavioral health conditions and effective treatment strategies. Proficient in using de-escalation techniques and responding to crises. Strong documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to recovery-oriented and trauma-informed principles. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
This position requires being awake and on-site during all scheduled shifts. May involve exposure to challenging behaviors and situations involving mental health crises. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs., and assisting clients with physical needs.
$16.88 - $21.16 per hour
