The CT Scan Technologist performs diagnostic and CAT scan imaging examinations while ensuring patient safety and adherence to hospital policies. Responsibilities include documenting patient information, maintaining equipment, and providing professional care to patients of all age groups.
Candidates must be a graduate of a Radiology Program and hold a NYSDOH license and ARRT CT certification. Current BLS provider certification is required, and computer literacy is preferred.
Maintain and exhibit behavior that promotes patient confidence and trust. Capable of working independently/unsupervised. Demonstrate proficiency in the performance of Cat Scan Imaging Exams. Demonstrate proficiency in the use and application of pediatric immobilization devices adhering to safety precautions. Must produce computerized tomographic scanner Radiographs of designated anatomical areas as ordered/directed according to established policies and procedures. Must prepare or enter written documentation as required by the Department, such as informed patient consent, patient chart documentation, and other related duties. Must observe sterile and aseptic techniques when necessary. Check equipment, supplies, and accessories on a regular basis. Asses the physical needs of the adult and geriatric patients. Demonstrate the ability to recognize and ally patients' fears and apprehensions about exams. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas. Complete requested examinations in a timely manner, observing radiation safety standards. Address the special needs of each age group served and assist in making reasonable accommodations for the hearing impaired, physically challenged or any other patients who may enter the Hospital. Observe bio-safety and Radiation safety rules and regulations. Responsibilities and duties may be added, changed, or deleted at any time at the discretion of the Director/Assistant Director of Radiology, either verbally or in writing. Performs related duties in PACS. Responsible for knowing and adhering to established hospital/department policies and procedures, including all aspects of safety. Must complete requested examinations in a timely manner, observing radiation safety standards. Must be computer literate. Must select and operate equipment as directed. Must be aware and able to prevent Sentinel Events.
