• Per diem, 8:00am to 4:30pm Summary Medical Surgical Attendant is a member of the health care team who assists the nursing and surgical professional staffs in the care of patients and in maintaining a safe and clean environment under the direction of the nursing staff, shift supervisor and director of nursing.

Responsibilities

Uses a systematic process to provide/ modify care and patient/family education. Cleans the surgical services department areas, including but not limited to operating/labor/delivery/ recovery rooms/prep rooms between cases as needed between cases as needed. Assists nurse obtain equipment for the surgical services department areas, including but not limited to operating/labor/delivery/ recovery rooms/prep rooms. Keeps patients informed of their medical condition and the course of treatment being prescribed. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned, including transporting patients.

Experience Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.

Education High School diploma is required.

• Credentials American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
• Unit Specific Credential Basic Life Support (BLS) Working Conditions Physical Requirements - Job function requires extended standing or walking.
