The Physician Extender will collaborate with primary care physicians to provide ambulatory patient services, including new patient visits and follow-ups. Responsibilities also include documenting patient encounters and submitting charges within the electronic medical record system.
The Certified Physician Extender will work in collaboration with a physician to provide primary care services for Gastroenterology patients in the Jackson Clinic.
Performs new patient, follow-up, and walk-in visits in collaboration with the primary care physician.
Documents and submits to the physician a list of patient encounters made each day for approval.
Documents and submits charges for all patient encounters in the electronic medical record.
Assists and takes initiative in handling issues of a non-routine nature.
Performs other duties as requested.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program and hold national certification. Current licensure as a CRNP or Physician Assistant in the State of Alabama and previous ambulatory care experience are required.
