Shift: DayUnited Medical Doctors is seeking a passionate and highly organized Clinical Care Coordinator for the Breast and Endocrine Surgery service line at UMD. The focus of the position would be on providing patient education and peri-operative clinical support, as well as coordinating multidisciplinary care for breast cancer patients. This is a newer service line with evolving responsibilities, and there should be ample opportunity for development and tailoring of the role. The position is office-based with a Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm schedule.
Below is a summary of the potential expectations and responsibilities:
Direct clinic work-flow and provide support for in-office procedures.
Manage patient communications for breast and endocrine surgery patients, including phone calls and messages.
Provide pre-operative patient education and handle post-operative questions and concerns, including evaluation and management of wounds and drains.
Provide updates to patients regarding test results and plan of care.
Interface with the Breast Imaging Center to coordinate patient appointments, procedures, and follow up.
Maintain registries for breast cancer and high-risk patients and arrange appropriate follow-up.
Facilitate interdisciplinary care of breast cancer patients and act as a liaison between the various specialties.
Provide education and resources for social support and adjunctive services to breast cancer patients and their families.
Assist MA, when needed, with administrative tasks like scheduling appointments and insurance authorization requests.
Qualifications
BSN/RN - Required
Med/surg or peri-operative care experience strongly preferred.
Experience in oncology or breast cancer care is not required.
Work experience would count towards a future Certified Breast Care Nurse certification, if desired.
