The Patient Care Technician assists nursing staff with daily patient care activities, including monitoring vital signs and providing personal hygiene support. They also maintain a safe patient environment and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
As a Patient Care Tech at UAB Medical West, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients. Under the supervision of the RN or LPN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various duties to support the treatment and care of patients according to established methods and procedures. The PCT takes and records vital signs, assists with personal hygiene, changes bed linens, and completes other tasks as assigned to promote the basic comfort and personal care of the patient. Your attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure will be essential in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and possess or obtain American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days. The role requires the physical ability to lift and move patients and strong communication skills.
