The Surgical Technologist functions as a member of the surgical team by passing instruments to surgeons and assisting during procedures. They are responsible for maintaining the sterile field, managing surgical supplies, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon and patient.
Candidates must possess strong motor skills, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to communicate effectively in a team setting. The role requires physical stamina for standing for long periods and the ability to handle heavy lifting and emergency situations.
The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of leadership. Performs and functions as a member of the surgical team. Passes instruments to the surgeon, assists the surgeon and/or holds retractors during surgical procedures.
