The Inpatient Coder II is responsible for assigning accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for various inpatient and rehabilitation services. This role involves evaluating medical record documentation, performing record analysis, and conducting follow-up reviews.
Candidates must possess detailed knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology, and coding guidelines. The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret complex patient data, and the capacity to work effectively with interruptions.
The Inpatient Coder II is responsible for assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for acute care inpatient, acute rehabilitation, swing bed and LTACH services. This assignment is based on evaluation of the documentation in the medical record and utilization of coding guidelines, Coding Clinic, knowledge of clinical disease processes and treatments. This position completes analysis and follow-up record reviews.
