  • Hinesville, GA 31313JOB SUMMARY This position is for a MT/MLT/CLS whose responsibility is to perform clinical laboratory procedures, quality assurance and instrument maintenance. Analyzes specimens and obtains data in for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Provides safe and efficient laboratory services to neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatric patient populations. Communicates with medical staff, other departments and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. May provide day-to day direction to five (5) technical and skilled personnel to. The position reports to the Laboratory Supervisor and Director of Laboratory Services QualificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS 1.

  • Education: Education level equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with concentration in medical technology or related field preferred. 2.

  • Training: Clinical competence in medical technology preferred. 3.

  • Registration: Medical Technology Certification required by AMT, ASCP, HHS, NCA, or ISCLT. Annual recertification preferred. 4.

  • Experience: Advanced clinical laboratory testing skills in blood banking, chemistry, bacteriology, hematology, and serology. Minimum of one (1) year experience in laboratory science. Basic computer skills necessary. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responsibility Focused Demonstrates a working knowledge of and/or location of organizational policies and procedures as well as adheres to them. Exhibits a working knowledge of information management, confidentiality, patient/resident safety, corporate compliance and infection prevention. Possesses knowledge of reporting errors or near misses without fear or blame/punishment for reporting accidents/incidents. Addresses and reports problems as they arise. Completes required competencies, licensure, certification and registration recertification in a timely manner, as well as participates in continuing education. Arrives to work on time, on scheduled days, during scheduled hours. Maintains flexibility with work schedule in meeting the needs of the department. Provides age specific care demonstrating knowledge of growth and development, system assessment and developing an interdisciplinary plan of care addressing culture, religion and ethnic preferences. Attends required departmental meetings and in-services. Utilizes equipment and materials in a cost effective manner. Participates in performance improvement activities. Serves as a preceptor in orienting and/or training new personnel. Follows chain of command whenever issues or problems arise which are beyond scope of practice. Performs essential job functions in an acceptable quantity and quality.
