The Cardiovascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist assists in all procedures within the Cardiovascular Intervention Center and performs radiological procedures at a technical level. They are responsible for positioning patients and equipment, monitoring radiation exposure, and maintaining physiological monitoring systems.
Candidates must be graduates of an AMA-approved Radiology Technology program and hold current ARRT and CRT certifications. A fluoroscopy permit and BLS certification are required, with experience in interventional scans and arrhythmia recognition preferred.
The Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves the populations of neonates to and including geriatrics. In this twelve-laboratory facility, we perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function and heart valve dysfunction.
