The Surgical Technologist functions as a member of the surgical team by passing instruments and assisting surgeons during procedures. They are responsible for maintaining the sterile field, managing surgical supplies, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon and patient.
Candidates must possess strong fine motor skills, precise hand/eye coordination, and the ability to work under an operating microscope. The role requires physical stamina for standing and lifting, as well as the ability to communicate effectively in a high-pressure team environment.
The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of leadership. Performs and functions as a member of the surgical team. Passes instruments to the surgeon, assists the surgeon and/or holds retractors during surgical procedures.
