The EEG Neurodiagnostic Tech is responsible for performing EEG and other neurodiagnostic examinations according to physician orders. This includes preparing patients, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safe care while adhering to departmental policies.
Candidates should have an associate degree or a minimum of two years of related experience in Neurodiagnostic Technologies. Basic Life Support certification is also required.
Education: Associates degree, preferred Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support certification Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum of two (2) years directly related experience or an Associates degree in Neurodiagnostic Technologies; in lieu of two (2) years experience Principal Accountabilities Receives and records physician’s orders for patient testing: schedules patients, obtains patient medical history and completes appropriate documentation. Prepares patients for procedures: explains procedure, measures for accurate electrode sites, applies electrodes and adjusts as appropriate. Performs electroencephalograph (EEG) exams, may perform other neurodiagnostic exams as directed. Maintains equipment and makes minor adjustments as indicated. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
