The nurse resident will provide safe, quality patient care while transitioning from academia to clinical practice. They will participate in mentoring and coaching to develop clinical and leadership skills within medical-surgical, telemetry, or operating room units.
Candidates must hold a current New Jersey RN license and have graduated from an accredited nursing program within the last 12 months. Additional requirements include a GPA greater than 3.4, a letter of recommendation, and Heartsaver CPR certification.
The Nurse Residency Program at Deborah Heart and Lung Center is designed to provide critical support during the transition from academia to clinical practice. Newly graduated and licensed registered nurses will gain the knowledge, skills and professional behaviors to deliver safe, quality care using evidence-based standards and best practice criteria.
The program will offer nurse residents training, competency and professional development, as well as, support for the critical transition from student nurse to clinical practice. Through supportive mentoring, coaching and learning, nurse residents will develop clinical and leadership skills and be cultivated into nurse professionals who deliver high-quality patient care.

1. Current New Jersey RN license 2. Graduate of accredited diploma, associate degree or baccalaureate degree nursing program within the last 12months.
*Non-BSN’s must complete a BSN degree within 5 years’ of hire

Commitment: 1 year commitment after the first year of residency
Heartsaver CPR certification within 3 months of hire; ability to work well with others, conscientious, organized and reliable.
Bi-Weekly Hours: 72 hours per pay period / various shifts
The minimum starting rate for this position is $47.08
