Provide immediate, expert emergency veterinary care including triage, diagnostics, stabilization, and surgical procedures. Collaborate with a team of technicians and support staff to manage high-pressure medical cases in an after-hours hospital setting.
Candidates must hold a DVM degree from an accredited veterinary school and possess an active veterinary license in Alabama. Strong clinical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment are required.
As an emergency-only facility, Emergency Pet Care offers a clinical environment built specifically for urgent cases. We are not a general practice and do not provide routine wellness care—our focus is emergency triage, diagnostics, stabilization, and treatment. Equipment & Capabilities Include: Digital radiography In-house blood analyzers (CBC, chem, clotting panels) Oxygen therapy and critical care monitoring Emergency surgical suite Endoscopy Blood transfusion protocols Radiology and specialty consult access Our cases range from heatstroke and trauma to GDV, respiratory distress, toxicities, and advanced wound care. We are also equipped to handle local challenges such as copperhead and rattlesnake envenomations. Scheduling & Support We offer flexible scheduling options for both full-time and part-time positions. Our hospital operates during the hours general practices are closed: Friday–Monday: Open 24 hours Tuesday–Thursday: 6 PM – 7 AM Shifts are shared across a collaborative team, and overnight coverage is supported by experienced technicians and support staff. What We're Looking For We are seeking an Emergency Veterinarian with sound clinical judgment, confidence in managing emergencies, and a steady presence during high-stress situations. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in emergency or general practice and be comfortable working independently with support. We are open to considering a new graduate who demonstrates strong foundational skills, readiness for emergency medicine, and a willingness to learn. Mentorship will be available, but our clinical environment does require a degree of autonomy and resilience. Why Trussville? DVM degree from an accredited veterinary school. Active veterinary license in AL. Previous experience in emergency or critical care is preferred but not required. All experience levels encouraged to apply. Strong clinical and diagnostic skills with a commitment to continuous learning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
