About the role

The psychiatrist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients through medication, psychotherapy, and behavioral interventions. They will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop treatment plans and provide patient care in inpatient or outpatient settings.

Independence Health is in search of a licensed Psychiatrist specializing in mental health, responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients using medication, psychotherapy, and behavioral interventions. Key duties include conducting psychiatric evaluations, managing medications, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in inpatient or outpatient settings.   • Essential Job Functions
  • Examine, Diagnose, treat , provide care to patients
  • Direct, coordinate or supervise patient care activities of nursing or support services
  • Order and interpret the results of tests
  • Prescribe medication or treatment regimens and therapies
  • Collaborate with health care professionals to plan and provide treatment
  • Develop medical treatment plans
  • Conduct discharge planning
  • Participate in inpatient treatment teams
  • Consultations
  • Documentation in EMR
  • Advise and educate patients and families on conditions and treatments
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]

Required Qualifications/Experience

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.

Four (4) to seven (7) years of internship and residency training, pertaining to specialty field.

Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.

Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Two (2) to Four (4) years’ experience in psychiatry.

Experience in Healthcare setting.

  • License, Certification & Clearances
  • Current medical license in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Successful completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA).
  • Certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
  • DEA License
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).

Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
