Requires an associate or bachelor's degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science and ASCP certification. Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory.
Provides quality clinical information by accurately performing laboratory tests and procedures. Works effectively with others to meet patient and care provider needs. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution Eligible for Georgia Department of Human Resources supervisor classification Education Associates degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489 Certification Summary American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Independent judgment and responsibility with minimum technical supervision Strong organizational capabilities and good communication skills Exhibits enthusiasm and willingness to work with others Strives for adult-adult relationships with colleagues, subordinates, and superiors Job Responsibilities Performs technical functions of Medical Technologist as outlined in job description and other duties as required by department. Follows departmental and system policies and procedures, including those pertaining to compliance and safety. Performs administrative tasks to include but not limited to revision of forms, training checklists/ job aides, regulatory documents to include CAP crosswalks. Ensures services are delivered in a fiscally responsible manner through management of staff workflow, and supply inventory. Provides technical support for staff and acts as a preceptor for staff training assists in training and orientation of new employees. Designee for competencies (if qualified). Performs quality control, instrument validation, maintenance review and troubleshooting task appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision. Acts as a resource tech on off shifts. Performs and is competent in specialty testing. Actively promotes a lean culture by performing duties to promote an understanding and consistent use of lean principals and processes. Initiates and leads implementation of at least 3 leadership approved lean process improvement ideas per year. Performs duties, makes decisions, takes actions, and continually strives to improve work processes using an awareness of how work performed is valued by the customer.
