The Vocational Specialist will provide vocational assessment and employment preparedness training to participants in a residential transitional housing program. They will also develop curriculum, coordinate employment services, and act as a role model while monitoring participant progress.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field. Additionally, one to three or more years of experience working with adults living with behavioral health challenges is required.

NFI North is seeking a Vocational Specialist for our adult transitional housing Program in Lewiston, ME. This program is a residential program providing care to adults living with mental health challenges.
This program is a residential treatment program providing transitional services to seven homeless young adults within the Lewiston Area. This program will increase our ability to provide transitional housing as well as other essential services necessary for young adults who are participants of mental health services. This transitional housing option will be designed to provide residential housing as well as the support necessary to insure successful independent living for young adults who are participants of mental health services. The supportive services found within the program will include Daily Living Support Services, Skills Development Services and Community Integration Services.
Provide vocational assessment and employment preparedness through training and education for each participant of the Program. Develop and implement curriculum suitable for participant participating in the employment training program. Coordinate and assist with all vocational/employment services. Monitor participant on the job to act as role model and support while assessing skill areas. This position is direct facing with program participants and will require some direct care and participant transportation with company vehicle.
Flexibility, high energy, creativity, computer proficiency and good communication skills are required. Ability to facilitate a positive working and living atmosphere is essential.
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology or related field, one to three plus years’ experience with adults living with behavioral health challenges. Experience in psychiatric rehabilitation a plus.
