As a Patient Care Nursing Assistant on the team, you play an integral role in ensuring patients continue receiving the best treatment possible.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and 3 holidays per year requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will: Prepare units, patient rooms and patient beds for admission, returning surgical patients, transfers or emergencies.
Provide and document assigned care (e.g., bathing, changing and/or refreshing of bed linens, dressing/undressing of patient, back rubs, etc.) and other general care throughout the day to ensure physical comfort.
Collect and document temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, height and intake/output in an accurate and precise manner.
Assist with pre- and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner.
Perform treatment procedures (e.g., venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice packs and heat, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, sets-up overhead trapeze and Buck's traction, removal of urinary Foley Catheters and other therapeutic measures).
Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly.
Prepare patients for meals, assist in feeding patients if necessary and distribute water and other nourishments according to patient needs in compliance with physician orders.
Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area.
Assist in keeping patient rooms in order, report equipment that is out of order, clean equipment and inventory and distribute unit linen and supplies.
Report any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patient.
Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period Job or educational experience providing basic computer knowledge and skills Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification One year of recent acute care experience Physical Requirements: Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
