The Pharmacy Intern assists Pharmacists with medication preparation, distribution, and administrative tasks. They also support clinical activities and ensure compliance with hospital safety and regulatory standards under supervision.
Candidates must be currently enrolled as a Pharmacy Student and possess a State Board of Pharmacy Certificate of Pharmacy Intern. These qualifications are essential for the role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Assists the Pharmacist in the support of the drug distribution systems including patient counseling and pharmacokinetic calculations Participates in performance improvement and data collections activities Responsible for dosage preparation, preparation of sterile admixture using aseptic technique, floor stock delivery, pre-packaging, billing, receiving, and stocking Participates in providing pharmaceutical care for the following age groups: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics Other responsibilities include: inventory control, controlled substances distribution, documentation and accountability, assisting in the inspection of medication storage areas throughout the hospital, and maintaining the cleanliness of the department All responsibilities are performed under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist according to local board of pharmacy and state regulations Performs other tasks as assigned by the Pharmacist Verify prescriptions, fill them and package them, take payment, and interact with customers
