The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of MRI services while ensuring patient safety and accurate documentation of patient history. They must also prepare and administer contrast, manage exam coding, and maintain effective communication with patients and medical staff.
Candidates must be graduates of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or an equivalent accredited program. Applicants are required to hold or be eligible for relevant certifications such as ARRT, ARMRIT, NMTC, or ARDMS, and must obtain BLS or CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
Uses two patient identifiers to identify all patients and documents patient history. Presents relevant patient information to the physician and assesses physician orders. Labels, prepares, and administers contrast. Ensures all exams are properly coded and tracked, all patient information is updated and documented, and all charges are entered correctly in appropriate systems. Practices and maintains MR safety while performing procedures. Interacts and communicates with both patients and co-workers while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program. ARRT registry eligible technologist must obtain ARRT within 6 months of hire date. MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained. CNMT, ARDMS, and ARMRIT graduates must obtain MR registry within 12 months of hire date.
ARRT Certificate OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of hire. Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI clearances with renewals.
