Our health care teams are comprised of psychologists, LPCs, LCSWs, PMHNPs and Psychometrists. Assisting these providers are clinical staff members, laboratory personnel, and business office professionals.

About the Role

As a Psychologist at AAPHC, you will play a critical role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health issues.

Your work will focus on improving clients' psychological well-being through evidence-based therapeutic interventions and personalized care plans.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive mental health support and contribute to the development of treatment strategies that address behavioral, emotional, and cognitive challenges.

This role demands a compassionate and ethical approach to client care, ensuring confidentiality and respect for diverse backgrounds.

Ultimately, your efforts will help clients achieve improved mental health outcomes and enhanced quality of life.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure as a Psychologist in Georgia
  • Demonstrated experience in psychological assessment and mental health counseling.
  • Strong knowledge of ethical guidelines and legal requirements related to psychological practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized training or certification in crisis intervention or family therapy.
  • Experience working with diverse populations across different age groups and cultural backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with behavior modification techniques and evidence-based psychotherapy modalities.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or social assistance setting.
  • Ongoing professional development through workshops, seminars, or relevant continuing education.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to identify mental health conditions and behavioral issues.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using counseling psychology and psychotherapy techniques.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing acute psychological distress.
  • Facilitate family therapy sessions to address relational dynamics and promote healthy communication.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust therapeutic approaches as necessary to optimize outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other stakeholders to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Stay current with advancements in psychological research and best practices to inform clinical work.

  • The required skills such as Counseling Psychology, Psychological Assessment, and Mental Health Counseling are essential for accurately diagnosing and treating clients' mental health conditions.
  • Crisis Intervention skills enable the psychologist to provide immediate support during emergencies, ensuring client safety and stabilization.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology and possess a valid Georgia state license. Demonstrated experience in psychological assessment and mental health counseling is required.
