The CRNA provides monitored anesthesia care and administers general anesthesia under the supervision of a physician. They are also responsible for maintaining anesthesia equipment, participating in quality management programs, and ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative process.
Candidates must be graduates of an American Association of Nurse Anesthetists approved program and hold current state licensure and AANA certification. Proficiency in current anesthesia techniques, airway management, and intravenous access is required.
