Role: At North Range Behavioral Health, we believe recovery is possible when people are supported, seen for their strengths, and empowered to peruse meaningful lives. Our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program is a collaborative, evidence-based approach designed to reduce hospitalizations and promote wellness for individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness. As a Vocational Counselor on the ACT team, you paly a vital role in helping clients rediscover purpose through employment and vocational engagement. Working within a fidelity-based supported employment model, you will partner with individuals facing mild to severe mental health and/or substance use challenges to identify their interests, build on their strengths, and achieve their vocational goals. This position combines hands-on outreach, individualized vocational counseling, and strong community collaboration. You will assess and evaluate client’s skills and career aspirations, actively engage them in job development activities, and provide ongoing support to promote job retention and success. In close coordination with ACT clinical staff, you’ll help integrate vocational objectives into each client’s overall treatment plan while fostering hope, independence, and recovery. The Vocational Counselor also serves as a bridge between clients and the community, building relationships with local businesses, workforce partners, and employment resources to create meaningful opportunities and ensure appropriate workplace supports. You
Will Do: Champion recovery through work. Provide individualized vocational and supportive services to clients within the ACT model, carrying a caseload focused on helping people access meaningful employment with greater independence. Serve as an integral member of a multidisciplinary ACT team. Collaborate closely with clinicians and other team members to integrate vocational goals into the client’s overall treatment plan, thoughtfully addressing strengths, interests and barriers to employment. Build home and purpose through strength-based vocational planning. Partner with clients to identify their interests, skills, and aspirations, and support them in developing self-directed, achievable vocational goals. Deliver flexible, person-centered vocational services. Provide a continuum of support, from high-intensity to as-needed services, tailored to each client’s needs and stage of recovery. Services may include vocational evaluations, community and workplace assessments, job coaching, counseling, job development and placement, and long-term employment support. Support whole-person wellness and work readiness. Coach clients in behavioral and coping skills, support informed decision-making, and help clients problem-solve and navigate daily living tasks related to gaining and sustaining employment. Actively engage clients in employment preparations and job development. Facilitate individual and group activities that build skills for all stages of vocational development, including job readiness, job search strategies, and workplace success. Meets clients where they are, literally and figuratively. Adapt service delivery to individual needs through community outreach, visits in varied environments, transportation support, referrals to additional resources, and hands-on assistance. Coordinate care with statewide and community partners. Collaborate with the State of Colorado agencies, and other employment and workforce partners to ensure seamless referrals, service delivery, training, and client support. Build bridges to the business community. Educate local employers about the benefits of supported employment, recruit and support work sites, and cultivate partnerships that promote inclusive and sustainable employment opportunities. Maintain strong employer and community relationships. Monitor employment progress, communicate regularly with employers, and coordinate support to promote successful placements and long-term retention. Serve as a resource and advocate. Provide consultation, education, and support to employers, providers, family members, and caregivers to reduce barriers and promote understanding and success. Track progress with integrity and care. Accurately monitor, evaluate, and document client progress toward vocational and treatment goals using electron and manual systems, ensuring ethical coding, quality documentation, and compliance with program and funding requirements. Model fiscal responsibility and transparency. Support agency billing and collection policies, help clients understand service charges, and work proactively with payor sources to ensure authorization and payment for services. Uphold excellence in evidence-based practice. Consistently meet program standards for fidelity to evidence-based supported employment and ACT models. Contributes to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Perform other duties as assigned in support of team success and client recovery.
