The Social Worker coordinates the discharge process and provides direct clinical services, including psychosocial assessments and group therapy, in an acute psychiatric setting. They collaborate with the healthcare team to manage complex patient caseloads and implement interventions to reduce post-discharge risks.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Social Work and possess active LMSW or LISW licensure from the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners. At least one year of post-graduate professional experience is required, along with the ability to obtain Safety Care and Basic Life Support certifications.

PRN 6-hour shifts / Saturday and Sunday The Social Worker (MSW) reports to the Social Work Manager of the Institute of Psychiatry. Under clinical practice guidance of the Social Work Supervisor, the Social Worker assists with coordination of the discharge process to ensure a successful transition in collaboration with the health care team to achieve targeted patient outcomes. This role completes a psychosocial assessment on the patient and caregivers throughout the hospitalization and arranges outpatient follow-up as needed. This position provides a wide variety of direct clinical social worker services in an acute care psychiatric setting for a complex caseload of patients including psychosocial assessment, active treatment (group therapy), discharge planning, and case management. The Social Worker identifies risk factors that the patient may experience after discharge and applies discharge interventions to lower the patient risk of an undesirable event post discharge. The Social Worker (MSW) bridges the discharge to outpatient provider with the patient and caregiver to address issues and questions.
Master's degree in a social work or social welfare program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. One years post graduate professional social work experience; three years post graduate experience preferred. LMSW/LISW licensure by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners. LISW-CP licensure preferred. Requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Demonstrates ability to collaborate in a positive, professional manner with medical professionals. Requires ability to work in a thorough but efficient manner.
