Job summary

The Sonographer performs ultrasound imaging procedures to provide the interpreting Radiologist with accurate diagnostic information. This role includes gathering relevant patient history, ensuring high-quality imaging, maintaining equipment, and supporting patient comfort and safety throughout the exam process. This position is PRN.

Responsibilities

Responsible for performing all patient ultrasound imaging procedures. Gathers patient history data and completes worksheets with exam findings for Radiologist. Performs general upkeep and housekeeping of exam rooms. Assists with imaging center workflow by helping with general duties as deemed necessary (burn discs with images etc.) Complete patient workups prior to scheduled appointments, including obtaining prior records, preparing charts, and verifying that orders and diagnoses are accurate and complete. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, radiologists, and clinic staff Train new Ultrasound technologists and/or support staff Document patient cancellations and relevant updates in the patient chart CHARACTERISTICS Strong interpersonal and communication skills Maintains confidentiality and professionalism Knowledge of infection control and clinical safety practices Compassionate, patient-centered, and service-oriented Organized, efficient, and able to multitask effectively

High School Diploma or equivalent Associate’s degree or equivalent experience Active ARDMS or ARRT(S) certification Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification 1–2 years of ultrasound/sonography experience preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Sitting: Occasionally Standing: Frequently Walking: Frequently Carrying/Lifting: Occasionally (up to 35 pounds) Stooping/Kneeling: Frequently Other: N/A
