The ER Veterinary Technician is responsible for triaging and monitoring critical patients, administering treatments, and assisting in emergency procedures. They must also maintain accurate documentation and provide supportive care for post-surgical and long-term patients.

In your day-To-Day, you will
Triage emergency patients and prioritize care based on medical urgency.
Monitor critically ill, unstable, and fractious patients.
Administer medications, oxygen therapy, IV fluids, CRIs, and other treatments.
Place and maintain intravenous, central, and urinary catheters.
Perform diagnostic procedures including bloodwork, radiographs, ultrasound, CT, and MRI support.
Assist with emergency procedures such as CPR, thoracocentesis, and pericardiocentesis.
Monitor post-surgical and hospitalized patients while providing exceptional nursing care.
Maintain accurate medical records and communicate effectively with veterinarians and pet owners.
Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are clean, stocked, and ready for use.
Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.
What you bring
High school diploma required.
Minimum of three years of veterinary clinical experience; specialty or emergency experience preferred.
Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license preferred.
Ability to obtain and maintain a California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer (not required for licensed RVTs).
Strong mathematical skills for calculating drug dosages, CRIs, client estimates, and invoices.
Excellent patient handling, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to remain calm and work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency environment.
