The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist coordinates technical and patient care components for cardiac and peripheral angiograms and interventional procedures. They are responsible for monitoring patient hemodynamics and assisting physicians during all invasive cardiac procedures.
Candidates must hold an Associate Degree in Radiology Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Nursing, or Emergency Medical Science with Paramedic Certification. Registration by ARRT, RN, RECS, or RCIS is required, along with the ability to maintain BLS and ACLS certifications.
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under the supervision of the Cath Lab Manager, Associate Manager and direction of the Cardiologist coordinates the technical and patient care component of cardiac and peripheral angiograms, interventions and other invasive procedures. He/she monitors patients during procedure and records hemodynamics; they also assist the physician in performance of all angiographic, interventional, implants and other cardiac procedures. He/she is responsible for all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures. The Angiography Specialist must maintain a positive approach to working in a fast paced environment. Must take emergency call with a 30 minute response time.
