About the role

The technician is responsible for operating diagnostic imaging equipment and ensuring technical accuracy of examinations. They must also maintain patient records, perform quality control, and communicate pertinent data to the care team.

  • ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Identifies each patient, reviews each patient's chart and previous examinations for consistency (examination ordered/clinical diagnosis), and records pertinent data at all times.
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images, and ensures proper film identification on all images.
  • Must be able to take call when required.
  • Must perform quality control.
  • Cross trained in multiple modalities and other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a recognized, approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in radiologic technology; associate's degree preferred. Previous work experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care environment is preferred Licensure/Certification: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; Certification by Texas Department of health (students will have a temporary license only). BLS required Skills: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas. Knowledge of radiographic examinations as well as procedures that require the use of contrast agents. Knowledge of radiographic equipment operation and radiation safety. Knowledge of patient transfers and positioning technique. Must possess a positive and courteous attitude, and take the initative to go beyond what is expected in a teamwork environment. Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an AMA-approved radiologic technology program and hold ARRT certification. A Texas Department of Health certification and BLS are also required for the role.
