A caregiver in this position works days from 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with on-call requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will: Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
Perform circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.
Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.
Prepare the Operating Room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Licensed military RN experience will be considered Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 6 months of hire One year RN experience required or completion of Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.
Personal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
