About the role

The Medical Assistant performs routine technical support services, including setting up exam rooms, checking in patients, and obtaining vital signs. They also perform clinical tasks such as venipunctures, audiometry, and vision testing under the supervision of a licensed provider.

Located in beautiful Northern California, Adventist Health Clear Lake has been a leading healthcare provider in Lake County since 1968.

We are comprised of a 25-bed critical access hospital and provide primary and specialty care services at clinics throughout the area to best serve our community.

Lake County is home to Clear Lake, California's largest natural freshwater lake, surrounded by charming small towns, beautiful mountains, vineyards and orchards.

This area is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, with some of the best bass fishing, rural trails for hiking and biking, all the while being only two hours from the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento Valley or Pacific Coast.

Job Summary: Performs non-invasive, routine, technical support services under the specific authorization and supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or nurse midwife.

Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required Licenses/Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or equivalent combination of licensure and experience: Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Successful completion of audiometry and vision training or have a certificate from CHDP within six months of hire.: Preferred Phlebotomy certificate: Preferred Facility Specific License/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Essential Functions: Sets up exam rooms and checks in patients.

Maintains a patient recall system, including continuity of care log for lab tests, referrals and transfers.

Obtains vital signs.

Reports significant findings and pertinent patient observations to clinic physician.

Performs venipunctures as ordered.

Performs audiometry and vision testing.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred qualifications include certification as a Medical or Registered Medical Assistant, as well as phlebotomy and audiometry/vision training.
