The Unit Technician provides patient care, clerical support, and cardiac rhythm monitoring within a medical-surgical unit. They are responsible for maintaining a safe environment and coordinating communication between nursing staff and patients.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid BLS certification. One year of healthcare experience is preferred, along with proficiency in nursing assistance, clerical tasks, or cardiac monitoring.
Under the supervision of the Director or delegate, the Unit Tech will be proficient in two of the following: Nursing Assistant, Unit Clerk or Monitor Tech.
Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic care to patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
Clerk: Assists in planning, organizing and implementing activities that occur in the nurse’s station. Responsible for clerical and receptionist duties. Responsible for documentation, communication and coordination of nursing unit activities. Maintains the physical environment of the area.
Responsible for ongoing surveillance of patient’s cardiac rhythm. Provides nurses with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening arrythmias. Responsible for documentation, communication and coordination of activities related to monitoring telemetry tracings.
Education and Experience: · High school diploma or equivalent
· BLS is required
· One year of health care experience is preferred
· Previous unit clerk, nursing assistant and monitor tech experience preferred
Certified Residential Medication Aide/Personal Support Specialist (CRMA/PSS)
Domestic and Sexual Violence Counselor
State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
Wound care Registered Nurse, RN or LPN
Ophthalmic Technician
Resident Care Associate
