Prepares patients for surgery and cath lab by performing required diagnostic tests and documenting medical histories. Reports abnormal results to surgeons, nurse practitioners, and anesthesia evaluators to ensure patient safety.
Requires a nursing degree from an accredited school and a current Alabama license, with a BSN preferred. Preference is given to candidates with three years of varied clinical experience as an RN.
Overview Prepares patients for surgery by performing diagnostic test required by the surgeon and anesthesiologist, documenting past medical/surgical history and current home medications and reporting abnormal results to the appropriate person (surgeon, nurse practitioner, anesthesia evaluator, etc.). The pre-admission RN also prepares patients for the cath lab and other hospital admissions.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required: Education: BSN preferred. Graduate of accredited school of nursing with current Alabama license required.
